Recent Cables To Go Discussions:
Moving to San Antonio?
I recently accepted a job at Lackland Air Force Base as a teacher. I have never been to Texas, let alone San Antonio. I would like to live within a 15 - 20 minute drive to work and in an urban, safe, but EXTREMELY convenient (lots of restaurants, shops, and parks) area. Any suggestions in areas? roads? apartment names? I can spend up to about $900 a month in rent. I also have a small dog no kids.
Also, who should I go with for internet and cable?
Just looking for some info on places that are convenient and good. Thanks!
Thanks for the info so far. Will a relator help me with apartments? I thought that was only for houses.
How do I use my laptop hardware on my desktop?
I have a new windows 7 laptop (Newish- It's a couple years old by now) and an old win XP desktop (Really, really fucking old) that I got from a family friend.
The desktop, again, is windows XP. It's in pretty good shape, the family friend got it from the tech company he works at, which was going to throw it away. It's comparable in specs to the laptop, except for RAM and the graphics card.
The RAM, I can deal with. I don't need to play Skyrim on my laptop (though I wanted to), but the graphics card on my desktop is incompatible with every game i've looked up. It's an intel chipset, from 2005.
Is there a way to use my laptop's graphic card on my desktop? I've got the two connected with an ethernet cable, that's how I get internet on the PC (bridging LAN and my laptop's wireless), so wiring the two together isn't a problem.
I don't have any money whatsoever to buy a new graphics card, so that's simply not an option.
Also, i'm not taking my laptop apart to get it. Just no.
So I just got a new comcast (xfinity) cable box and the volume doesn't work with the remote?
So I can go up to the box and turn up/down the volume manually, but the remote won't turn the "box" volume down/up. I can turn my tv volume up. But not the box volume up by remote. I can do other things with the remote such as channel surfing and such but not volume control. Any help? I have the new box
How can you tell your router is bad?
So I lost internet about 3 days ago when my cable ISP had some problems. Apparently a construction crew cut some wire and left most of my area without internet.
They fixed the problem today, and the internet is now working, but only when the modem is directly connected to the computer. My D-Link router cannot connect to the internet at all, but the computer still says that the signal strength is excellent.
I have reset both my modem and router countless times and also went through the setup for the router (there are no security settings). I don't understand how the router could be the problem because it was working fine before the internet connection was lost initially.
Does this mean that my router is bad? Could the router have been affected when the internet connection was lost?
Sorry if I forgot any details
Why is youtube only loading a little bit of a video at a time and then freezing?
For the past week or 2, when I play a youtube video it will only load part of it. And once the time bar gets to the end of the preloaded time (the end of the grey bar in the time bar) it will then stop playing and start "thinking" and will continue to "think" unless and until I scroll back the time bar by just a little bit, and only then will it to load more of the video I'm watching, but still won't load the whole thing until I get to the point when I have to scroll back the time bar near the end of the video.
Using 10 minute video length as an example, I will have to scroll back the time bar 3-4 times on average.
I think the problem is youtube because I'm not encountering this problem anywhere else, but maybe it could be a problem with my computer, who knows. Any help, fixes, or ideas?
I have high speed internet, cable modem, btw. As I said, this problem has only been going on for the past week or two.
tickerlock: yes and yes.
John Z: I use Chrome. But I've thought of switching to firefox, what do you think?
Feminists and the rest of you
There is a recent series called "Girls" on HBO. It shows the the lives of young women (20's) and their struggles with work, sex, relationships. One character works at an office where the owner/manager (50+) has a tendency to touch the young female employees. The woman talks about this with two other young women while in the bathroom. They tell her it that they just let him do it. The job is good, the insurance is great, and one woman says she got an iPod for an office Christmas gift. They completely dismiss the touching as any malicious harassment and even say "Don't tell your boyfriend about it, he might freak out like mine did." Later on, the man talks to this main character and touches her on the butt. He then asks "You'll tell me if you are uncomfortable with my touching, won't you?" She says nothing but has this look of "Oh well, f*ck it," on her face then walks out. The owner doesn't apparently go any further by going for sexual favors.
The show is not meant to be a serious drama. Just a spicy comedy with some more graphic scenes due to being on cable.

Help on becoming a Pc gamer?
Hello Yahoo, my lovely mother went ahead and sold my brand new 250gb Xbox 360+kinect out of a fit of rage for $100.00 -.- but anyways instead of going to buy a new Xbox Ive contemplated becoming a PC gamer...there's only one problem I DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT PCS that's why I'm kindly asking the Yahoo community for some help. The games I used to play on my 360 were BF3 and Skyrim so I would need a computer that could handle that on highest quality. Also my visualization of me playing would be me with a portable gaming pc with the option to run an hdmi cable to a HDTV so I can play on a big screen at home. Also Also please make your technical mumbo jumbo easy to understand as I am a PC virgin thanks in advance!!!
How to keep a dog from chewing on wires?
This isn't your normal puppy teething that just needs to be trained type thing here. My dog is 3 years old and well behaved. He has never chewed on anything except his bones ever. Just yesterday, that changed. My parents work and both me and my sister go to school, so the dog gets left alone on weekdays, and he never did anything destructive. Yesterday I came home from school and the chord to my electric guitar amp was chewed in half, and same for my phone charger. Today I came home and some of the cables for the cable box and tv where chewed through. I don't know what to do with him! He is destroying the house and he might get hurt. And this just started yesterday so I have no idea why he's doing it! I really need some help! He's a border collie if that helps.
Help needed on an out of the box Samsung Galaxy Ace?
Just tried to connect the USB data cable for the first time and got the messgae that my PC was looking for my Windows Disk (I don't have one). I tried to go through the set up process without linking to the disk but it said that the software might not work properly.
The PC doesn't even recognise the data cable. The drive letter "E" appears but cannot be read and I can't find any files in my system files relating to the new software. I intend to do a system restore and try again but without the Windows disk, will it do any good?
Any help or advice appreciated.
For the record I am having to use a reconditioned Windows XP system from a charity shop therefore I don't have an official Windows disk, my laptop died recently and I can't get a new one for a few months still
PSP Go Charging Pinout?
I'm going nuts here trying to figure out what needs to be connected on the PSP Go custom connector in order to charge the thing.
I've taken a component cable apart and got a nice little PCB to solder my USB pins to and I have done so but still no dice.
Here's the pinout I've been using:
1: GND
2: D+
3: D-
4: GND
5: ???
6: ???
7: +5V (Not from USB)
8: +5V USB
9: ???
10: Component Blue
11: ???
12: GND
13: Component Green
14: ???
15: Enable Component Video Out
(Resistance 50k to GND)
16: Component Red
17: GND
18: GND
19: Enable Audio Out (when Grounded)
20: GND
21: Right
22: GND
23: ???
24: Left
25: ???
26: ???
27: ???
28: GND
I've soldered:
1: GND
2: D+
3: D-
4: GND
8: +5V USB
It doesn't do a thing.
I'm trying to use my iPhone plug in charger and with a real cable (which has vanished) it worked fine but with my custom effort here I'm not getting a thing.
Does anyone know if there's something I'm doing wrong?
