Sharp aquos will not respond!?
My Sharp Aquos will not respond!
I have a LC46D85U and I am having a very unusual problem with the display. When I turn the television on both the Power and OPC lights come on and DO NOT BLINK. the LCD light kicks on but there is no picture, just a black screen. If I press any button (aside from power) on the TV or on the remote control, the only response I get from the TV is the occasional dimming or brightening of the LCD light. Is this problem correctable by me? or do I need a technician... also how much roughly would it cost to fix a problem like this.

Sony vs. Samsung 3D TV?
I'm looking for the best 3D TV and I'm not sure which brand (Sony or Samsung) is better in this aspect. But, I also want the TV to have great picture quality, a sharp, clear image, and have LED/LCD.
Here are the two that I am looking at:

I don't see much of a difference between the two TV's. and I don't know much about television buying either. Any advice/help given would be great!
To clarify, I'll mostly be using this as a 2d TV. So, I would also like to know how the two TVs compare in that aspect as well.
Samsung LCD TV Trouble?
I have a Samsung 4 Series LCD 403 flatscreen and based on the specs, it says it has a 1366x768 resolution from this website:

The problem I am having is that the picture just is not sharp as it looked in the store. My picture looks somewhat distorted, the letters from words seem shadowed and from afar its hard to read words and see a clear face while seeing a movie. I purchased the HDMI cord which is supposed to make it better, but nothing.
The TV is just completely not sharp like it shows in the store. What should I do? Does this TV give you the highest pixels? What TV pixel/resolution gives you the best and sharpest image? I'm no expert so lamens terms please.
Thanks!
Are HDTVs far better now then a few years ago?
Ok so in early 2008 I bought a 53" LCD samsung for just a hair under $3,000.00. I had never bothered to hook it up to HD since I really don't watch tv for anything except for sports and i really wasnt bothered by the blurry picture (just happy to have a huge tv). So anyways, my friend gets this Sharp Aquos LED 70" for $2,000.00 and hooks it up to hd and it looks absolutely ridiculously clear and defined to the point you can see the fking veins in peoples eyes. So I go out and get the exact same setup through directv as he has and i'm thinking since my TV is smaller it has to look even better, only to find out my tv isn't even comparable to his in anyway. With HD on my tv it just looks like the picture is just a crystal clear version of SD, while his looks like a whole another broadcast.
So basically, my question is are HDtv's of today THAT much better then 3 years ago??? I mean I paid a grand more for a tv almost 20" smaller and the quality SUCKS compared to his, or am i missing something?
Like I said, everything is hooked up the same as his. Both are through hdmi cables, on HD channels (since SD duplicates are hidden) and both set to 720p.
How much would a 2 year old 47 inch sharp lcd tv cost?
older selling me his tv, not sure what to offer him...
